Christmas in America Today
Once Christmas really began to be celebrated in the U.S., it was changed to be more family oriented, instead of being celebrated like Mardi Gras. In the 1800's, people in America began to look at traditions from long ago and see how the people of the Catholic and Episcopalian religion celebrated Christmas. It wasn't until the 1900's that Christmas was celebrated like it is today. When people in the U.S. began the Christmas tradition of decorating trees, sending holiday cards, and gift-giving.
