When the snow starts falling in Bullskin Township, keep an eye out for an out-of-the-ordinary plow.
Connellsville Area High School art teacher Antonette Dues said she was approached last school year about painting one of the Bullskin plows. "My principal called me and asked if I felt like painting a plow for the Bullskin Township supervisors, so we did."
Dues had her honors and advanced art students develop designs and a vote was taken. The design by Kellie Williams, a junior at the high school, was chosen by her peers.
After the design was painted onto the plow, the plow was painted with automotive clear coat by the students at the Connellsville Area Career and Technical Center to help preserve the design through a rough winter of scraping up snow and ice.
While other school districts have participated in a plow-painting contest sponsored by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation. Dues said her students took on the Bullskin plow to help the township and that it was a community project.
