History of Bobsledding
Bobsledding first started in Switzerland in 1897, and was a sport for the rich. Bobsledding was a pastime that occurred at alpine resorts, where competitions and partying took place on weekends. Bobsleds were first made of wood and now are made of fiberglass and steel. Bobsledding is a sport that requires speed and strength in order to succeed. Why you may ask? Well the start is crucial in bobsledding, you need a good push off in order to make it down the hill the fastest. Bobsledding made its Olympic debut in 1924, which was a four man team competition. Also, there is a two man team competition as well. In these competitions men and women both can compete together on the same team, which makes it a unique sport.
