CAHS Hall of Fame: Johnny Lujack

Johnny Lujack is a Connellsville High School graduate from the class of 1942. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2010. Lujack is most famously known for being an all American quarterback at Notre Dame and winning the Heisman Trophy in 1947. The Heisman Trophy is the highest award a college football player can receive. It is an annual trophy given to the most outstanding college football player.
During his time in high school, Lujack was the senior class president and a three sport athlete. He also lettered in four different sports while at Notre dame. He then left Notre Dame to serve in the Navy during World War II. Lujack went on to play four years for the Chicago bears (1948-1951), and once threw 468 yards in an NFL game. He was then elected into the College Football hall of fame.
With a donation made by Mr. Lujack to the Connellsville Area School District, the John Lujack Training Center was built at Falcon Stadium.
